Nigerian Civil Service Clocks 100 Years, Seek Advance Civil Servants Relationship

The Nigeria Civil Service Union National Headquarters has held a One Day retreat in Plateau State to commemorate its 100 years of existence with a promise toward advancing the cause of its new framework on Labour Union relationship in the country.

 

Speaking to our correspondent at the Hill station Hotel Banquet Hall on Thursday,  The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Chairman Plateau state chapter Comrade Jibrin Bancir told journalists that the Labour is been endanger so they need to look inward on how to strengthen and diversify their investment as a Union.

 

Comrade Bancir reiterated that the retreat is aimed at bridging the horizontal of civil servants with a holistic approach that can be implemented across the 36 States of Nigeria.

 

Basically, he stressed that the Labour Union in Plateau state will reciprocate the good gesture of Governor Simon Bako Lalong led administration for its prompt payment of workers’ salaries in the state.

 

Bancir charged the state chapter of the civil servants to perform optimally towards rendering qualitative service delivery to the general public as a stimulant to citizens.

 

He called on the civil servants in the state to avoid anything that is capable of truncating them by reducing their performance to late coming during the work time.

 

“We need these challenges to go back and deliver our service to the general public, NLC according to him remain the only strong body that is standing to protect the well-being of the society today”, he explained.

 

According to him, the Labour Union today in Nigeria are facing extinction to seek to end labor exploitation of workforce so the retreat is to set up a committee to meet up Union dispute.

 

The Nigeria Union National headquarters on quarterly meeting with participants to its leadership retreat, theme, consolidating on the rules standards and selfless service delivery.

 

Meanwhile, the National President of Nigeria Civil Service Union, Comrade Amaechi Lawrence Uchechukwu (JP) at the opening session of leadership retreat maintained that we have always been meeting at various organs but not with the attached portfolio and status most of us are attending this event with today.

 

“we shall practice internal democracy and try as much as possible to avoid being guilty of those wrongs we accuse the government and employers of doing “, he added.

 

He lamented that the era of passing bulk or blaming each other must be over as an era of more united and prosperous Nigeria civil service Union is already on board, as we discuss today on how to create our wealth, how to also manage it to realize our expectations for the future shall feature prominently.
