NGO Urges Imolites, Nigerians To Vote Wisely In 2019

A non-governmental and non-political organization in Nigeria known as “Grassroots Accountability Advocacy Foundation, GAAF, has urged the people of Imo state  in particular and Nigerians (electorates) to always vote wisely in the forthcoming general elections in 2019,with the theme of one day seminar tagged: “Roadmap to Violence Free Election”.

The President of GAAF, Barr.Genevieve Ifeoma Anthony-Iroajanma, who made the above statement, charged electorates to wisely cast their votes for the right people so that God-fearing leaders would emerge to uphold good governance propelled by democratic tenets encapsulated in the rule of law.

Barr.Ifeoma Anthony-Iroajanma Esq, made it known during a seminar organized to enlighten youths, the  active electorate, on wise voting, violence free election in an Owerri Hotel.

The legal luminary, Iroajanma, while speaking called on INEC, security personnel, civil society organizations, political parties, etc, to play vital role to ensure free, fair and violence free poll in 2019 and beyond, advised voters to use their ballots to vote in competent and worthy persons to restore lost glory of the people to create wealth and improve living standards to move forward.

According to her, “youth re-orientation is the core basis for national change and enlightenment campaign. Their orientation, creativeness, character define the pace and success of a nation”.

Iroajanma stressed that, GAAF, works hand in glove with youths to provide them with mentorship, education including capacity building for a lasting socio-economic and political revolution.

She described GAAF as a non- governmental organization whose objective is aimed at fostering public engagement with institutions of governance by breaking down the barriers militating people’s access to critical information pertaining to their performance crucial for advancement and productivity.

“Our strategy is to educate citizens so they are able to make informed choices, engage them in the national discourse, enlist them in a collective fight against public office mismanagement and empower them accordingly to become more useful for the progress of the society”, Barr. Iroajanma stressed.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO,Chief Orlando Ikeokwu, in his presentation, expressed satisfaction for the success of the seminar and charged Imolites and Nigerians to leave up to expectation by ensuring that the right individuals are voted into power and positions of authorities as such would enhance the economic growth, foster development and enabling environment for a better society.

Categories of people in attendance at the workshop includes: politicians, vibrant youths, religious leaders and well respected journalists within and outside the state.
