NGO Trains Teachers On Security Emergency Preparedness In Schools Environment, Bauchi

A non governmental organisation Glorious Elisha’s Foundation (GEF) has organised a three days training program for senior and junior secondary school teachers on security emergency preparedness in schools environment in Bauchi state

 

The Executive Director of the foundation Mrs Ibiola Atureta said the training was aimed at education, enlightenment and to equip the teachers with the necessary

skills, techniques and majors to take during an emergency occurrence at their respective schools.

 

Atureta while briefing the participants at the Professor Iya Abubakar Resource Center Tuesday in Bauchi, said that “because of the present situation of security threats in our schools of learning, the foundation deemed it necessary to embark on the sensitization and informing the public with a view to ensure proper plan and adequate preparedness against any emergency in the schools.

 

She disclosed that the program was designed into three categories comprising easy competition to students, educating and sensitizing to teachers on gender roles as well as transforming teachers leader action and access to quality education and giving out prizes to the overall performing schools and students respectively.

 

According to her, the training participants both students and teachers, were selected from schools across both public and private in the metropolis.

 

Some of the participants interviewed during the training program Alhassan Saad a teacher from Abuhurara Academy and Mr Patrick Moses of Divine Academy express joys over the training by the foundation’s aid.

 

Alhassan said “the training has come at a right time when most of the schools in the country, particularly Northern parts are facing with security, and promised to impacted the knowledge to his school”,

 

Patrick explained, “We have learned a lot in the area of emergency preparedness as well as gender roles in the training, and I am going to disseminate the same at my school with a view to prevent any occurrences.
