The Plateau State Branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has crises deepened with a fresh crisis on board as there has been call by the Leadership of Newslink Chapel  to the National secretariat to urgently  dissolve the present  Exco led by Paul Jatau of The Nigeria Standard Newspaper  and Peter Amine ,of News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, for their illegal sacking of members who are  believed to have their  prerequisite requirement of practicing and owning a media outfit to practice as journalists without due consultation.

Sunday Taiwo in a press statement made available to our medium urged the national secretariat of NUJ,  to put an end to the lingering crises going on at the Plateau State chapter before it degenerate into another full problem.

The council has been  characterized with indiscriminate suspension and deregistering of those suspected to be out spoken and can challenge the illegality melted on them by the  Exco ,the statement read.

Taiwo stressed that;  “It has become necessary to intimate you following the illegality perpetrated by the Plateau State Council under the Watch of Mr. Paul Jatau, the chairman in deregistering NewsLink Chapel.

He condemned the decision of the State Exco of the Union (NUJ) to deregister the NewsLink Chapel that they did  not only attempted to violate the constitutional provision, but also  spelt doom for a well-established protocol of the professional body , hence the action is an extra-constitutional and null and void.

“You would recall, the Council’s Exco in collaboration with  Mr. Aminu Yusuf ldegu plotted against the downfall of so many media practitioners, however, the  made mockery of the entire union  by hijacking a noble profession meant to serve the general public in utmost good to their personal greedy agenda” .

According to him, the said Aminu, was a disclaimed member of NUJ  in a publication dated 8th March, 2009 in  front page of “Fresh Fact, Newspaper based in Abuja for trying to swindle the organization  on criminal charge.

Sunday Taiwo reiterated that the same Aminu and his accomplice therefore lack the locus standi to accuse NewsLink Chapel.

May we also say that the illegal action has led to the NewsLink Chapel launching a strongly worded reply to the National body of (NUJ) to clarify their doubt on their ignorance?

We all believe in the competence 0f the leadership of (NUJ) at the National level for justice .

We In Newslink sincerely appreciate Plateau State publishers Association for their overwhelming   support and doggedness and all other media for their concern towards justice equity.
