I Never Embezzled Plateau SUBEB Fund—Prof Sule

The Executive Secretary of Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board,(SUBEB), Prof. Mathew Nshim Sule has debunked allegation of missing funds meant for  teachers salary.

He disassociated himself from any financial misappropriation of teachers’ salary in the state since he was appointed.

Professor Sule disclosed that the alleged money laundering linked to him is not true that as he said he is not a signatory to the account of the board.

He also stated that EFCC has never invited him for any irregularities regarding missing funds; however, he admitted that EFCC came last year to get the details of his Predecessor Dr Lyop Mang stewardship, which he said he still has the document in his custody.

Speaking further he said that the alleged money laundering of teachers’ salary was done by the last administration under the leadership of Dr Gloria Lyop Mang which records he said are there. He stated that over N6 Billion was discovered by EFCC to be missing under the former Chairman’s administration.

He however, said that the sum of N2 billion has been recovered by the Commission out of the missing N6 billion.

According to him he said, he doesn’t know the colour of EFCC gate or where their office is located, adding that when he came on board; he introduced a harmonized time table in all public Primary schools in the state for effective monitoring of school activities.

He said that he ensured appointment of education secretaries in the state through open competitive process to guarantee the selection of people with the requisite qualification to add value to the system.

According to him, the State Government has organized orientation / retreat for the newly appointed 17 local government education secretaries to expose the teachers to new technology. Prof. M N. Sule also directed all education secretaries and zonal education directors   to ensure that they declare their assets with the code of conduct bureau to defined transparency of his policy.

He said within one year, the Lalong government has resuscitated sporting activities in public primary schools across the state which was abandoned 25 years ago to help promote extra curriculum activities in Plateau state.

Prof. Sule said, on resumption of office he initiated the building of conference hall and some edifice within the headquarters of SUBEB.

He added that the team of directors and the newly appointed education secretaries were caution on the need to reposition the quality of learning in public schools.
