The National Assembly leadership has suspended legislative activities in both chambers following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in London, United Kingdom, after a brief illness.
A statement by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana explained that the directive, given by President of the Senate and the Speaker of House of Representatives, enjoined all members of the National Assembly to reschedule their engagements to allow them full participation in the burial activities of the former president.
The statement described the former president as a leader who will be remembered for his commitment to Nigeria’s unity and his integrity.
The statement condoled with the government and people of Nigeria, particularly Buhari’s wife, children, and the entire family.
