Nasiru Gawuna, the chairman of the governing board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has resigned from his position.
In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, Gawuna said his decision was in compliance with directives aimed at ensuring adherence to electoral laws ahead of forthcoming political activities.
“My resignation is in strict compliance with the President’s directive requiring all political appointees to step down in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act,” the letter read.
Gawuna expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, describing his tenure as a privilege to contribute to the growth of the bank and national development.
He also noted that he is placing his future “in the hands of Allah (SWT),” while seeking guidance on his next political steps, and assured of a smooth transition in line with established procedures.
Meanwhile, sources indicate that the former APC governorship candidate in Kano State has concluded plans to align politically with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and is expected to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
