Nasarawa Would Be Centre For Commerce Soon-Governor- Al-Makura

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has said the people of Nasarawa state stand the chance to benefit from the recent visit to China.

Al-Makura stated this when Chinese investors, Qinhangdao Beidou Automatic Control Equipment Company Limited, the producers of fertilizer and Tonghi, expert in power supply with the aid of coal paid a visit to the emir of Lafia and the chairman Nasarawa state council of chiefs, Alh, Dr.Is a Mustapha Agwai.

The chief executive opined that the visit to China has started yielding result with the visits of the two Chinese firms to the state as he said the state government has expended chunk amount on the procurement of Fertilizer blending machines.

Stating that the machines will arrive the state very soon, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura said three sophisticated fertilizer blending machines are to be stationed at Lafia, Akwanga and Nasarawa Local Government Area respectively.

He asserted that Chinese investors are in the state to test the suitability of soil as well to inspect facilities at the existing fertilizer blending in Lafia.

Al-Makura gave the assurance that in the next two months things would take shape translating China visit to reality.

He however maintained that the state government is also in partnership with Tonghi, an expert in energy supply, the governor in addition stated that Tonghi would use coal as a source of generating energy to the state, the governor said this would unlock the potentials of the state as well a new opportunity for the unemployed youth in the state.

While inspecting facilities at the moribund fertilizer blending plant established by former governor, Abdullahi Adamu in 2002 said his administration would not left any stone unturned in revivifying the ailing plant.

Al-Makura has promised to provide a 500 KVA generator to the company to enable them power the facilities which has been abandoned by the government of governor, Aliyu Akwe Doma as an operator who took the governor round said Doma did not use the ailing plant in his four years in office.

In an interview, Al-Makura while reacting over the liaising of the plant to a private individual, the governor attested that the agreement has since elapsed in the last three years.

He said the management of the team would also overhauled the existing plant which he said be put into use very soon.

“The agreement has since elapsed in the last three years but we don’t want anything, no single penny but we are taking over the fertilizer blending plant without demanding for anything”.

The governor visit the faculty of agriculture, Nasarawa state University, Lafia, the state College of Agriculture, Lafia, the emirs palace and the fertilizer blending plant, Lafia.
