Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone Seat Remains Vacant, Seven Months After Emergence Of Adamu As APC Nat. Chairman

Seven months after the emergence of the senator representing Nasarawa West senatorial district, Abdullahi Adamu as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and just one month to the expiration of the incumbent senators, the vacuum created still remains unoccupied without any effort to conduct the election.

The State Chairman of the ruling party in the state, Hon John Mamman when contacted at his office in the Ministry for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy affairs ignore our Correspondent who asked him about the vacant seat of the senate of Nasarawa west. 

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Douglas Otaru in an interview with Universal Reporters at the state secretariat of the party said the conduct of a bye-election for Nasarawa West senatorial district is the prerogative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fix a time for the bye-election or the national secretariat, not the state secretariat to remind them of the vacant seat.

Efforts to speak to the national chairman of the ruling party, Abdullahi Adamu claimed abortive, as he did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him.

The Public Relation Officer and head of the Information Unit, Ibrahim Onawo while clearing the air said  as soon as possible election to fill the vacant seat of Senator Abdullahi Adamu , senator representing Nasarawa South senatorial district will commence any moment the national headquarter give them the go-ahead to conduct election 

“We will communicate to the press the moment a date is fixed for the bye-election, “said Onawo sometimes ago.

The state Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) , Hon Fracis Orogu could not be reached for comment on preparations for the conduct of Nasarawa West senatorial district zone.

While the State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party, Hon.Sidi Bako when contacted by Universal Reporters at the premises of Taal conference hotel averred that the party is still waiting for INEC.

“That is my problem with Journalists asking unnecessary questions, are they the ones that will conduct the election, go to INEC to make inquires, less than 160 days to conduct an election that will usher in a new crop of senators
