The Nasarawa state chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming convention of the opposition party, the people’s Democratic Party, Honorable Jacob Ogiri has sympathized with the next Governor of the state come 2019. In an exclusive interview the chairmanship contestant expressed worry over the way and manner the incumbent Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura piloting the affairs of the state as his personal empire.

Mai mashi gave the indication at Taal conference hotel Lafia, Speaking on the landslide victory of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in 2015 Governorship election and the election of member House of Representatives, Hon.Haruna Kigbu as the duly representative of the people of Lafia/Obi federal constituency; he said the All Progressives Congress robbed the PDP of her mandate.

“We have majority of senators and members House of Representatives, This a clear indication of total victory come 2019″.

Jacob Ogiri slammed the current APC Government in the State under Al-Makura as a death party that has lost her radar; He further said the ruling party right from the federal level to Local level is death before arrival.

Commenting on the chances of People’s Democratic Party winning in 2019, Hon.Ogiri affirmed that the ruling party lost most of her stalwarts, Saying more would decamp to the PDP,” I’m hopeful that the first executive Governor, Abdullahi Adamu and Labaran Maku if I emerged the next chairman of our great party will return to their homes, We are just waiting for the time, He added.

“One thing I will like to shade more light on was the relationship that exist between the PDP and the All Progressives Grand Alliance ( APGA) in short, APGA is an appendage of the PDP ,that was why APGA did not endorsed a presidential candidate in 2015 election.

On the free secondary and primary education of the led-administration in the state, He described the free education as a gimmick meant to gain political popularity, saying students are wallowing in hunger in boarding schools lacking all amenities.

“Free education without chalks, blackboard and other basic facilities” Is this you called free education, Nasarawa state is operating on an auto pilot under the reign of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura”.

Reacting on the welfare package for workers in the state, Jacob sympathized with Local Government workers over the payment of their monthly salary ,He said workers are surviving from hand to mouth over the payment of salary on percentage or delay in payment, He also expressed regret over the ongoing impasses between the state Government and organized labour, Saying PDP is the only solution to the maladministration of the chief executive, The chairmanship aspirant while speaking on the pace of development in the state in the last four years said the state Governor only focused development along Kwandare in Lafia north neglecting the other twelve Local Governments.

“He beamed his searchlight on the acquisition of plots of land from every corner of the state, He bought a land opposite College of Agriculture, Lafia in the name of the state but later convert the land for his personal use, which is now belongs to Al-Makura.

Speaking on the area of security under Governor Al-Makura, He rated the Governor low, Saying people were killed and houses destroyed by Fulani herdsmen in Odeni magaji, He added that no single police men were deployed to the area, The chairmanship candidate opined that people in Nasarawa state no longer sleep with their eyes closed due to the rising spate of criminal activities by men of the underworld both at home and along highways.

“Majority of our highways are manned by either local hunters or vigilante group taken the place of security outfits in protecting the lives and properties of the citizenry, you are an eye witness that Doma-Lafia highway is no longer safe for road users if not the for  presence of vigilante

Jacob Ogiri (Mai mashi) lampooned the Governor over the loan he and his counterpart went to acquire in far away Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ,Al-Makura very soon will lease out the state to the highest bidder if care is not taken, Who will pay back the loans, bailout which are collected to construct airport which is not our immediate problem.

He called on Party supporters to remain calm, resolute by sacrificing for the betterment of the party and the state, He promised to unite the party that ison the verge of collapsing, He attributed the defeat of the party in 2015 Governorship and other elections to mischief among party chieftains, selfishness and envy by stakeholders within the party.

He also appealed to all chairmanship candidates to be steadfast by accepting the outcome of the election of state chairman and all other positions for the sustenance of the party.
