Nasarawa South Senatorial Election: PDM Drags Governor Al-Makura To Election Tribunal

The Senatorial candidate of Nasarawa South under  the auspices of People’s Democratic Movement Abdullahi Agwai, has drag the senate-elect,Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and the Independent National Electoral Commission to Election Petition Tribunal  challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress

Christian Wanche, Counsel to the PDM candidate revealed this to Newsmen immediately after filling a petition on behalf of his client on Sunday in Lafia.

The Counsel maintained that the have filed a petition challenges the omission of the logo of their candidate’s party from the February 23, elections.

“As a results of the omission, we prayed the court to declare the election of Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone of February 23, illegal for excluding the logo of PDM and order for bye-election.

“It is unconstitutional to exclude any party or candidate who has fulfilled all the necessary requirements from participation in any election.

“We believed that we would get justice from the Tribunal, because our client was illegally excluded from the election,”  the Counsel added.

Meanwhile, Bello Mukhtar, Secretary of Tribunal who confirmed the received of the petition, said so far the Tribunal have received four petition from different candidates.

He added that the closing date for submission of any petition is 21 days from the day declaration were made.
