Nasarawa Police Warn Troublemakers

policeThe Police in Nasarawa State said it would not take it kindly with any political party, interest group or individual who are in the habit of inciting members of the public with malicious rumours and falsehood intent upon creating social unrest.

Speaking through the spokesperson of the state command, ASP Ismaila Numan, the Police boss said the police will not allow any political party to take advantage any situation to heat up the polity for whatever polity.

He reiterated that officers and men of the command are ready for any eventuality and will henceforth clamp down on any anyone who, through any means tries to cause public disaffection.

The stern warning handed down by the state commissioner of Police, Mr. Sani Mohammed, comes on the heels of the press statement circulated by the state secretary of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Mr. Emmanuel Yaro, with a copy made available to universalreporters247.com to the effect that Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has hired the services of thugs to disrupt governorship tribunal proceedings in Lafia.

It alleged further that: “APGA has reliably gathered that Al-Makura is bent on disrupting the sitting of the Tribunal by using hired thugs to unleash mayhem at the venue.

The plot is to intimidate the Tribunal members in order to force their hands to deliver judgement in favour of Al-Makura who was fraudulently declared the winner in the massively rigged election.

Reacting, the Special Assistant to Governor Al-Makura on media and publicity, Ahmed Tukur, the frivolous but inciting statement is unfortunate, saying that Al-Makura defeated Mr. Labaran Maku with over 100, 000 votes in an election conducted in a peaceful atmosphere why would he resort to intimidation now.

He called on members of the public to always disregard the the machinations of politicians who are out to sow seeds of social strife and remain resolute in their support for Governor Umaru Tanko Al- Makura.”
