Nasarawa PDP Loses 2 Council Chairmen To APC
The Nasarawa state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has lost two of its elected council chairmen to the ruling All Progressives Congress, The two chairmen that defected to the APC are the chairmen of Kokona and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government respectively.
The PDP executive chairmen denounced their membership of the PDP when the state Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura was addressing movers and shakers of the APC at the Government House.
The Governor said his administration doesn’t have the intention of reversing the eighteen N18, 000 new minimum wage, He opined that topmost priority would be accorded to the welfare of civil servants been the engine room of Government businesses.
This brings the number of APC elected council chairmen to thirteen, winning the whole seats, it would be recalled that the PDP won four (4) chairmanship seats in the last council poll conducted in March 2014 before the election Petition Tribunal nullified the elections of Keffi and Keana respectively leaving only two Local Governments to the PDP.
As at press time all effort to speak to the state chairman of the PDP Chief Yunana Iliya proved abortive as the chairman did not respond to his calls, The PDP has again suffered another round of defeat with the defection of its two executive chairmen, Another big loss was the verdict of the appeal court sitting in Makurdi ordering for a re- run election in Angwan Doka polling unit of Chiroma in Lafia Local Government. The Nasarawa PDP is descending to the abyss with the unfolding in Nasarawa politics.
