Nasarawa Moving Towards E-Governance -DG BITC

The Director General Bureau for Information Communication Technology, Shehu Ibrahim has said e’Governance if fully introduce in Nasarawa state would block leakages in Government operation.

 

He disclosed this during an exclusive interview with selected Journalists in his office in Lafia.

 

He further maintained that ICT make Governance more accountable and more easier for communication.

 

Shehu buttressed that with the super highway  it cut down the cost of governance like moving of files from one ministry to another without stress.

 

The Director General says the Government of Nasarawa state has partner the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board  in providing 500 desktop computers in the existing two Computer Based Testing centres.

 

He said the Bureau is conducting a two weeks free classes for Jamb candidates by coughing on the usage of computers.

 

“Most of those siting for Computer Based Testing are computer literate and the reasons for the classes is to acquaint them with the knowledge of manipulating computer without itches”.

 

Shehu Ibrahim in addition said the two centres if put into use would serve as source of revenue to the state Government, as he maintained the two centres would be a catchment centre for all north-central states.

 

He further revealed that BITC in no distance time would convert the existing five e’libraries to ICT hub which are used in the training of Basic and advanced computer.

 

Saying the centre by February would introduce Website design, photographic design as well to introduce Enterpreneurship programme which he averred comprises of the technical aspects like repairing of Air conditions, computer, GSM repair.

 

Commenting on the secret of e’libraries, the Director General explained that the centres trained sixty to eighty persons on different skills.

 

“We have e’libraries in Lagos, Keffi, Karu, Nasarawa and Akwanga.

 

When asked on the major challenges of the Bureau, the DG reiterated that power is never an obstacle of the centre.

 

“Governor Sule succeeded in changing all the batteries of the inverter which he explained that a battery can last for five years.

 

“Apart from the inverter,we have a big standby generator in case of failure of inverter”.

 

Shehu Ibrahim while feilding question from Journalists said the Bureau are into talk with the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board and the Ministry of Education on the need to introduce Information Communication Technology curriculum in schools.

 

The DG lauded the steps taken by the Chief executive , Governor Abdullahi Sule for given out computer loan to civil servants.

 

He also commended the state Government for the training of civil servants.
