Nasarawa Ministry Of Agriculture Issues Query Letter To Man Involved In Fertilizer Scam

The man involved in fertilizer scam from Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has been issued a query letter by the state ministry of Agriculture.

The Hon commissioner, Jamilu Zakari gave the disclosure in an interview with selected Journalists in his office.

He said the discovery of 200 to 300 bags of fertilizers allocated to Doma Local Government Area of the state led to the person involved confessed his involvement in the scam.

The government of Nasarawa State has assured farmers in the state of early sales of fertilizers; the commissioner said the holistic effort of the state government to procure three fertilizer blending plants.

“Sample of our soil has been taking to china by experts, I assure you that by the time we started blending fertilizer in Nasarawa State would be a starting point”.

It would be recalled that lawmakers in Nasarawa State directed Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura to arrest, prosecute and relieve any gullible government officials caught diverting fertilizers meant for farmers.

The speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Honorable Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi stated this in Lafia after the chairman; House committee on Agriculture, Barrister Abubakar Kana (APC) Kokona West moved a motion on the need for the House to investigate alleged cases of fertilizers scam and diversion by government officials in the state.

Balarabe Abdullahi said the arrest and prosecution and relieve of gullible government officials scheduled with the responsibilities of distributing fertilizers to the farmers became imperative.

Saying punishing the recalcitrant would serve as a deterrent to others with the same questionable character while given a responsibility.

The Speaker applauded governor Almakura for distributing fertilizers at a subsidized rate of N4000 per bag to the farmers, calling on farmers to report any case of diversion of fertilizers in their communities to the appropriate authorities.
