How Nasarawa Ministry For Local Government Saved N.2bn From Death And Retired Workers—Commissioner

Nasarawa state commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy affairs, Honorable Ahmed Tijjani has said the ministry for local government has saved N.2bn from the monthly wage bill of workers in the thirteen local government councils.

The commissioner stated this during an interview with selected Journalists in his office; he however said the N.2bn would along the line be paid to retired local government workers as pension.

The commissioner while speaking on the backlog of arrears owned workers; Honorable Tijjani opined that arrears of workers would be paid as soon as the economy improves.

“As soon as the allocation of local government improve we will pay them their arrears”,as you can see there was an increase in June-July salary.

On the ongoing strike embarked by the Nigeria Union of Teachers’ in the state, the commissioner decline comment over the unabated strike, for barely three months primary school teachers in the state are on strike demanding for the payment of one hundred percent of their salary.

Other demand was on the state government to return the payment of primary school teacher’s salary to the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board.
