Nasarawa Lawmaker Exonerates Al-Makura Over Insinuation Of Relocation Of Permanent IDP Centre To His Community

Hon. Umaru Tanko Tunga ,the majority leader of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly has vindicated the state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura over the widely spread rumor on the relocation of permanent centre for the Internally Displaced Persons to Shabu ,the headquarter of Lafia North Development Area.

The controversial permanent IDP’s centre was a project conceived by the then People’s Democratic Party Federal Government led by former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan ,the lawmaker (APC) representing Awe North said the conversion of the centre by the state Government to hostel accommodation in a day school was with the consent of Tunga community.

Tanko Tunga said the decision taken by the community was to avoid wastage of tax-payers money, adding that the idea was to avoid white elephant project,” converting the permanent IDP’s centre was to avoid unproductive venture, he added.

“Where did Governor Al-Makura take the project to? What is the design of the structure? And where is the location of the project at Tunga? “.

This report was coming at a time the people of Tunga community in Awe Local Government area of Nasarawa state are clamoring over the U-turn in the execution of the permanent IDP’s camp, a project conceived by the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
