Nasarawa Govt Okays WASH Project

Nasarawa State Government has renewed its commitment to better the living conditions of the rural communities by providing safe and quality drinking water in the State.

The commissioner of Water Resources and Rural Development, Hon Mohammed Agah Muluku stated this while declaring a One day State central dissemination meeting organised by the Society for Family Health under “Wash” for healthy lives held at AWA Diamond Hotel in Lafia.

Hon Muluku acknowledged the contribution of WASH4HEALTH lives for imparting to Nasarawa State rural communities in the first to the third phase of the project interventions in Karu, Nasarawa and Obi Local Government Areas.

He categorically said that Nasarawa State Government would key into the fourth phase of the project, so that the State would benefit from WASH4HEALTH lives in improving Water quality in the rural communities.

The Project Coordinator W4HL project, Mr Nnamdi Anosike said that society for family Health has been in Nasarawa State since year 2022 whereby the SHF impacts positive to the well being of the rural dwellers in a way to have a good and clean drinking water in the rural communities of the State.

Mr Anosike said the phase one to three had ended which has been implemented in Karu, Nasarawa and Obi Local Government Areas as pilot Local Government whereby the rural dwellers are provided with a method of getting clean drinking Water.

He said that the fourth phase of the project is going to be implemented in Nasarawa and Edo States respectively.

However, the fourth phase would focusing on infrastructures by drilling borehole to curtail outbreaks of cholera and other related diseases at the rural communities.

In a goodwill messages the General Manager, Nasarawa State Water Board Dr kana Ahmad Abubakar indicated that the board would assisted the project with technical support and data to aid the project success in Nasarawa State.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Dr John Damina assured SHF of the Ministry readiness to partner with them.

Also the Executive Secretary, National Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Usman Iskilu Saleh said that the agency has already put in place mechanism to collaborate with any donor agencies and pledged to support the society for family Health in order to achieved its objectives.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of sports, Dr Ibrahim Alhassan identified with the SHF and said that the Ministry readiness to safeguard the interest of Youth to get a quality drinking water.

Ministry of Education pointed out that they are going to key into the project so as the schools in the semi urban and rural areas would benefit from the Wash clubs and school assembly of the W4HL project in order to have a good health and wellness in schools.

The 2025 W4HL project with kicked off in the Month of April. This meeting provides an avenue for the stakeholders to have a roadmap for the project implementation in Nasarawa State
