The Nasarawa State government has reiterated its determination to support the federal government program in providing food to the teaming population said the completion of the abandoned Yam processing centre situated in Keffi remain an utmost priority of the current All Progressives Congress in the state.
The commissioner, Hon Jamilu Zakari stated this during an interview with selected Journalists in his office; he averred that the completion of the project became imperative to the government of Nasarawa State.
He said the program is in tandem with the federal government yam export program which was meant to diversify the economy, adding that the program was aimed at improving on food production.
He further revealed that more than 150,000 tonnes of yam were exported abroad during the reign of the successive regime.
“The centre was conceived by Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma and abandoned by the same government.
