Nasarawa Government To Commence Demolition of Illegal Structures Along Keffi /Abuja Highway

Al-Makura-NasarawaNasarawa State Government has intensified efforts towards the demolition of illegal structures along Keffi/Abuja high way for the purpose of achieving its master plan on urban renewal scheme.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state on Urban Development and Control made this known in an exclusive interview with ome selected Journalists in Karu local Government area of the state.

The SSA said the demolition exercise is not to witch hunt anybody but to give the state a befitting outlook as well as to reduce traffic congestion along Keffi/Karu/Abjua high way for the overall development of the country.

“I want to categorically state that the exercise will be a continuous project to reap off all illegal structures without proper registration and submissions of their documents for approval to the state government no matter how highly placed they are.

“Gov. Tanko Al-Makura has decided to embark on the exercise so as to make the state as one of the best in terms of structural development and to create a conducive environment for its traders, its citizenry and foreigner alike,” He said

Hassan denied rumours making the round that the state government did not served demolition notice even as he added that the master plan of structures have been affected so far.

According to him “The state government through the state Urban Development Board had served notices of demolition to all illegal structures owners since July 2013,which has been long overdue that necessitated government action in that direction.

He added that there are two categories of structures, shanties and some filling stations which if found to have no proper registration and submission with the board are consider  illegal and would be demolished.

The SSA called on the people of the state to support the efforts of the Gov. Al-Makura administration towards achieving total beautification of the state through its Urban renewal scheme.

He lauded Gov. Al-Makura for embarking on peoples oriented projects towards fighting poverty, unemployment and to boost the socio-economic development of the state.
