Nasarawa Environment Commissioner Lauds Buhari For Approving N931M Ecological Fund

The Commissioner Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources,Nasarawa State,Honorable Musa Ibrahim has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the approval of the sum of N931m ecological fund to the State to fight environmental degradation in Nasarawa Eggon.

 

Hon.Ibrahim in an exclusive interview explained that the approval of the amount would go a long way to mitigate the effect of environmental devastation ranging from erosion eroded area,land shift and amongst other environmental hiccups.

 

The Commissioner asserted that the State needed a whooping N12bn intervention to develop the solid mineral sector,He opined that the State has not access ecological fund for the past four years.

 

Adding that the State needed N4bn to tackled erosion related issues as he explained that the State is a major erosion State covering the entire thirteen Local Government Areas.

 

Speaking on the prospect of the current administration in the Ministry of Environment,Honorable Musa Ibrahim stated that the led State Government under the headship of Governor Abdullahi Sule has approved the establishment of mineral market.

 

When asked on the effort of the present administration under the headship of Engr Abdullahi Sule to end illegal mining said mining market remain the only solution to discard the activities of illegal miners.

 

Four hundred and forty mining licenses but vast of the licenses are dormant for years.
