Nasarawa Civil Servants To Begin Payment Of Development Levies-Al-Makura

Tanko-AlmakuraNasarawa state governor says civil servants in the state would henceforth pay Development Levy, the governor decried the way and manner Development Levy was just left for contractors.

Al-Makura said his administration is set to commence the implementation of development levy for all categories of civil servants in the state as a means of generating the much needed revenue for infrastructural development of the state.

Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura state this when he received the report of the transition appraisal committee in his office in Lafia recently.

He lamented that the current situation where civil servants who constitute less than one percent of the total population of the state are appropriated all the monies that accrue to the state through payment of salaries and other entitlements is not unfair to the generality of the populace but also immoral.

“State expends its colossal allocation at the expense of 99 percent of the population is unacceptable.  We as people must rationalise on how we can ensure the survival of each and every citizen of Nasarawa State”, The Governor emphasized.

“As a result of that from now onwards it is the responsibility of everyone who earns a living on the state resources to also plough back for commonwealth”.

The challenged council chairmen in the state to accord premise to Internally Generated Revenue to augment the lean resources accrued to the state from the federal grant.
