No fewer than 17 private pilgrims were disqualified from performing this year’s Christian pilgrimage, The Executive Secretary, Odeh Clement Magaji has stated, He opined that the seventeen private sponsored are business men, Bar Magaji said the steps taken was to get rid of business men that may take advantage of the spiritual voyage for personal gains.
“Those we disqualified did not meet up to the requirement ,That is to said some of the intending pilgrims adopted businessmen as their guarantors while some are not married, And in case of defection what do we do ?,We told them to go and do the right thing that is against next year not this current operation”.
He asserted that preparation is top gear for the airlifting of Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem, The Executive secretary of the Nasarawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Barrister Odeh Clement Magaji stated that the journey may commence as soon as possible.
“We don’t have itches ranging from medical screening, visas and other needs”,
He opined that majority of the delegation include teachers of Christian religion studies (CRK).
The Executive Secretary obliged that the Deputy speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Godiya Akwashiki was nominated as the leader of the delegation by the state Government.
Other members of the delegation also include former Secretary to the State Government in the then Plateau state, Jonah Ogbole amongst others.
He affirmed that 1,300 were expected to visit the holy land, Bar Magaji challenged affluent in the society to build their paradise from what God has given to them, saying only fragment of rich people would see the kingdom of heaven.
“For a rich man to enter the kingdom of God is as hard as a camel passing through a needle, Bar. Odeh Clement Magaji maintained.
He commended Christian pilgrims for conducting themselves in the previous exercise; He also applauded the commitment and resilience of the state Governor, Umar Tanko Al-Makura for sponsoring the intending pilgrims.
