Nasarawa Assembly Summons Namairo Nigeria Limited, Canonic Associate Consultant Over Shabby Contract

Namairo Nigeria Limited ,the contractor and Canonic Associate,the consultant handling the construction of three storey building of the male and female hostels at the state owned College of Agirculture, Lafia has been summoned by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on Education for executing shabby projects.

The contractors are to appear on Monday, Oct 31,Daniel Ogazzi (APC-Kokona East), the Chairman Committee on Education, Science and Technology gave the directive on Friday after the committee inspected some ongoing project at the State college of Agriculture, Lafia.

The committee expressed dissatisfaction with the level of the ongoing work, especially on the construction of the three storey male and female hostels, the chairman maintained that the projects were executed poorly done. Other projects inspected include the college clinic, Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre, abandoned female hostel among others projects.

“We will not accept any poor job and the entire people of the state need quality work for durability as well as to ensure that students learn in a conducive environment.

He affirmed that the Assembly will not accept any shabby work done by contractors handling the hostels projects, adding that the assembly would ensure that the right thing is done in order to improve on the standard of education and wellbeing of the people of the state.

“As you can see, I am here with other members of this committee to assess the level of ongoing work and to see by ourselves the standard of the job with the view of ensuring that good quality work has been done by the contractors in order to complement the state government huge investment in the education sector.

“It is in view of this, we are summoning the contractor handling the projects to appear before our committee on Monday,31st unfailingly at the assembly complex and to come along with the terms of contract agreement and other necessary documents for necessary action on the matter, “he said.

According to him, “The assembly will not fold their hands watching contractors or anybody sabotaging the government’s efforts in improving the standard of education but will continue to embark on their oversight functions to ensure that the right thing and what is expected is done for the benefit of the people of the state.

Ogazi advised the contractors on the need to use quality materials and to avoid sharp practices in order to improve on the standard of education in the state and the country at large.

He added that the committee would be up and doing in order to inspect education facilities across the state, adding that education is the best legacy parent and government should bequeath its citizens as no nation could achieve meaningful progress without sound education.

The committee chairman reinstated the commitment of the assembly to continue to enact laws that have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state and called on the public to give them the necessary support to enable them succeed in the task ahead of them.
