Nasarawa Assembly Summons Commissioner For Local Government/Council Chairman Over Swindling of Funds

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon.Ibrahim Balarabe has tasked .Local Governments Chairmen of Nasarawa State to imbibe the spirit of prudent spending of resource accrued to their various localities.

 

Hon Balarabe called on the Council bosses of the thirteen Local Government council on accountability and transparency in the interest of development.

 

The Speaker gave the task on while receiving reports of the Ad-hoc committee investigating the allegation of swindling tax-payers money against Mr. Mohammed Oyimoga, the Executive Chairman of Obi Local Government Area of the state.

 

He said that transparency should also be the watch-word of every leader in order to ensure speedy development in the country.

 

The Speaker said April 10th was slated for further debate of the committee’s recommendations.

 

Hon.Daniel Ogazi (APC-Kokona East), the Acting Chairman of the committee while presenting the committee preliminary reports on the matter said that the committee is yet to complete its assignment.

 

Ogazi, who is the House Deputy Majority Leader, said that the committee invited the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the affected council boss and some councilors of the council during their investigation.

 

The acting chairman of the committee said that the committee is yet to complete its assignment due to non-availability of necessary documents from the state   commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

 

“Some necessary documents that will assist the committee in its assignment are yet to be submitted by the Commissioner for Local Government and Affairs, “he said.

 

It reports that the speaker slated April 16th for deliberation of the House Standing Committee on Health on a Bill for a Law to Amend the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Agency Law 2009.

 

The bill was presented by Alhaji Mohammed Okpede, the Chairman, and House Committee on Health.

 

 

It would be recalled that on March 25, the House received a petition from All Progressives Congress (APC) youths of Obi Local Government against their council boss over allegation of corruption and high handedness with tax-payers money.
