Nasarawa Assembly Passes Appropriation Bill Of N90.17 Billion Into Law

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Wednesday passed the 2019 appropriation bill of N90.17 billion into law.

Hon.Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker hinted this after the Majority Leader of the House, Hon.Tanko Tunga moved a motion for the passage of the Budget into law.

Balarabe disclosed that the House jerked up the budget by over N3billion due to omission of Nasarawa Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) sectorial allocation among others.

The House recommended that all on-ongoing and new projects executed should be sustained and completed for the benefit of the people of the state.

The House approved and passed a total budget size of N90, 170,246,463.52billion only to be issued out from the consolidated Revenue Fund.

N51.029,581,277.52billion represents 57% for Recurrent Expenditure while Capital expenditure gulped N31,966,994,046billion representing 35% only.

“And a consolidated Revenue Funds charges of N7,173,671,140billion only representing 8% is for Debt  Servicing, Pension and Gratuity, “he said.

The Speaker urged the state government to intensify effort and block all loopholes especially in the area of revenue generation to achieve the desired objectives with regards to Internally Generated Revenue of the state.

The House further recommended for the autonomy of the state Revenue Board to enhance their performance in generating more revenue.

Balarabe tasked the executive on strict implementation of the budget provisions if finally assented into law.

He further directed the clerk to the House to produce a clean copy of the budget for the governor’s assent.

Hon.Tanko Tunga(APC-Awe North),the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the passage of the bill into law and seconded by the minority leader, Hon.Peter Mbucho(PDP-Akwanga-North) and unanimously the lawmakers passed the budget into law.

On Dec. 28,2018,it could be recalled that governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura presented the 2019 proposed  budget of N86.64billion only to the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The 2019 budget which was tagged “Budget of Transition was presented by the State Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Ayuba Ayenaje.
