Nasarawa Assembly Passes Angwan Makama Chiefdom Bill Into Law

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into law” a bill for a law to create Angwan Makama Chiefdom,a third class status in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon.Ibrahim Balarabe- Abdullahi announced the passage of the bill during the House proceedings.

He said that the bill if finally assented into law by the Chief executive; Umaru Tanko Al-Makura would give the people of Angwan Makama community a sense of belonging as well as would bring government closer to them.

 

“The bill for the creation of Angwan Makama Chiefdom is an Executive bill sent to the House by Governor Tanko Al-Makura.

 

“The aim of the bill is to give Angwan Makama community in Akwanga LGA a sense of belonging as well as to bring government closer to their door step.

 

“We are all aware that the importance of chiefdom,traditional rulers to the promotion of peace and societal development cannot be over-emphasized,”he said.

 

The speaker directed the clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the governor’s assent.

 

Balarabe -Abdullahi also urged the people of the area and the state at large to continue to live in peace and see themselves as brothers and sisters for the rapid development of the state.

 

He also restated the commitment of the Assembly to continue to pass bills and resolutions that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.

 

Mr Daniel Ogazi representing Kokona-East, the Deputy  Majority Leader moved a motion for the passage of the bill into law.

 

Hon.Mohammed Okpede PDP representing Doma North seconded the motion.

 

It would be recalled that on Dec. 21, 2018, governor Al-Makura had submitted the bill for the creation of Angwan Makama Chiefdom to the House for approval.

 

It would be also recalled that on March 27, 2019, the House of Assembly has organised a public hearing on the bill for the creation of Angwan Makama Chiefdom in which all stakeholders of the community welcomed the idea and blessed the bill.
