The New Nigeria People’s Party has again loses one it Lawmaker, Hon. Musa Ibrahim, Member representing Doma South constituency finally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The ruling APC at the moment has a Total number of 12 Lawmakers while the People’s Democratic Party, The PDP 9, and the SDP have 3 lawmakers respectively, making a total of 24 lawmakers.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau announced the defection during the House proceedings on Wednesday.
Jatau appreciated the lawmaker for his wise decision to join the Progressives Party, APC in the State.
The Speaker assured of his continued commitment to providing all-inclusive leadership in the House.
The Chairman of the ruling Party, Dr Aliyu Bello, the Chairman, described the defection of Honorable Musa Ibrahim as a “homecoming”
He assured the lawmaker of equal opportunities, privileges, and treatment in the party.
On his part, Honorable Musa Ibrahim said he defected from NNPP due to a crisis rocking the party at the national level.
” I write to inform you of my immediate resolution to defect from my former party, NNPP to APC in Nassarawa State.
” As a member of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, I’m duty bound to make laws that will impact on the lives of my constituents under a good framed mind but owing to the crisis in my former party aforementioned (NNPP) that has impeded me from concentration, hence the reason of my defection.
” Upon receipt of the letter, I denounced my membership of NNPP and now a member of APC. I look forward to working with the leadership of APC in Nassarawa State House of Assembly and the
State at large.
” Attached in this copy are series of cases lying in various superior courts of records in the federation which has shown a great division in the party.
It would be reported that with this development, the rulling All Progressives Congress is leading the Assembly with 12 seats with the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) having 9 and the Social Democratic Party (SDP)-3 in that order.
