N4bn Loan: Court Adjourned Suit Against Anti- Corruption Crusader In Bauchi

Bauchi High Court number  has adjourned the suit between anti corruption crusader and Bauchi State Government. It would be recalled that the anti-corruption crusader  was arraigned for allegedly publishing documents and article against Bauchi State governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar in which the governor was allegedly accused of collecting N4bn loan from UBA with approval from the House of Assembly and State Executive Council.

The Presiding judge Justice Sa’ad Ibrahim Zadawa after listening to two witnesses, presentation of exhibit and argument by the two counsels to the complainant and defendants adjourned the case to 11 and 12 April 2016 for application of the accused counsel and ruling.

The counsel to the accused made an application for the recall of the IPO to answer questions on the exhibits tendered before the court.

The Counsel to the accused Barrister Abdullkadir Alhaji Sani in a chat with  newsmen said “we are waiting for people to tell us where it is stated that any document relating to expenditure of tax payers money is a classified, nothing happened, no house was burnt, no cars was burnt, everything went peaceful.

“As a taxpayer I have a right to ask people who are governing my state to tell me what they do with my tax, this is nothing less or more that our client have done’

“They tendered exhibit under the custody and will not explain, so we ask for the witness to come and explained better” he said

Counsel to the complainant Barrister Abubakar Kobi said “we brought two remaining witnesses which have all testified before the court today  and the counsel to the accused objected to our 5th  witness that he is not allow to come and testified before the  court since he cannot explain the exhibit tendered and the case was adjourned”

It could be recalled that the anti- corruption group, Bauchi State Coalition Against Financial Crimes and Injustice of which Jibrin is the General Secretary had placed an advertorial in one of the national dailies titled : “An open letter to President Buhari and the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly”, urging them to investigate Governor Mohammed Abubakar for alleged financial crimes .

This according to the coalition is to support President Buhari’s effort at fighting corruption.
