Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, said that his administration was ready to partner both local and foreign investors in the area of power generation, agriculture and industrialization of the state.

Obaseki said this shortly after attending the graduation ceremony of the class of 2016 trainee and technician of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, (BEDC) Plc on Wednesday in Benin.

The governor disclosed that his recent trip to China was part of his continued efforts at wooing investors to the state.

According to him, in line with the vision of this administration in creating jobs for the youths of the state, we are talking to investors to come and co-invest with us in building industrial and agricultural parks in the state.

“We are also seeking co-investment in the area of power plant in Gelegele. We have identified two locations to be used for this purpose”, he said.

Speaking further the Governor said the state government was actively supporting the AZURA power project which he said was near completion.

He said “the project would be ready hopefully by the end of the third quarter of this year”.

Obaseki said that he was optimistic that the progress recorded by the Buhari led-administration especially in the Niger-Delta region of the country would boost power supply.

“it would lead to the supply of more gas to the grid which would equally lead to more electricity supply and get some of the industries in the country functional,’’ he said.
