Bauchi State Tax Payer Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Darazo who filed a suit against the N4 billion loan obtained by the Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar from United Bank for Africa UBA on behalf of the state government has alleged threats to his life.
A letter of complaint addressed to the State Police Commissioner, which was copied to State Director State Security Services SSS and the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 12 made available to this medium indicates that there has been alleged threat to the life of Darazo since after filling the case against the Bauchi Government in court.
The petition which is titled; “Letter of complain of threat to life , intimidation and criminal trespass to person of Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahuim Darazo and which was signed by his counsel Barrister Sadiq U Sarki Esq said; “ Our client inform us in the course of briefing in our office the information we verily believe to be true and correct that as a citizen of Nigeria , indigene of Bauchi State and a Tax Payer.
He filed an originating summon s at the Bauchi State High Court of Justice with suit No BA/258/2015 against Bauchi State Government , Bauchi State Governor and one another, seeking inter alia” whether by virtue of the provision of section 128 and 129 of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria , The Governor has the Power to source for , collect and utilize N4billion on behalf of the State Government without the approval of the Bauchi State House of Assembly.”
He said; “ Since he filed the case , our client has been receiving unknown phone calls, threatening him to withdraw the afore said case, like a phoenix in the ashes, the incident of such threat got a fresh life on the 14th of January 2015 as some unknown persons went to the ancestral home of our client at Darazo Local Government of Bauchi State, asked for our client who was then away, the person met my client younger brother asked a lot of questions in respect of my client.
Counsel to Darazo said “the afore mentioned unknown persons did not stop there but criminally trespass in to the home of our client and check every room in the house with their pen and paper to the dismay and chagrin of the people present, which was a violation of our client fundamental human right, and asked the Police and other security agencies to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators of such act to Justice.
