Miyetti Allah Leader, 7 Others Arraign By Police  For Alleged Kidnapping, Terrorism, And  Killings In  Irigwe Plateau

A Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos has remanded 8 persons for kidnapping, terrorism, and possession of illegal firearms at the Jos  Correctional Service centre on a Six (6) count charges of criminal conspiracy, mischief committed, collaboration, and culpable homicide.

However the Nigeria Police  Plateau Command anti-terrorism squad on Friday arraigned the following accused persons; Yau Idris, 2 Adamu Buba, 3 Abubakar Buba, 4 Yusuf Ibrahim,5, Isa Useni,6 Abdulkadir Sani,7 Abdullahi Adamu, and Yahaya Inusa on charge bordering on 6 counts.

The Prosecution counsel, Insp. F.M.Alex, OC  legal of Plateau state Command said they were arraigned by the Nigeria Police Force for kidnapping, terrorism, and possession of illegal firearms on a six-count charge in Charge.

Meanwhile, only count charge 4 was for Yau Idris, who is the leader of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, and the 3rd defendant Abubakar Buba the Youth leader of Bassa LGA, and others on a 5 count charge of charges respectively.

The Presiding Judge, Justice I.I.Kunda   ordered that the 8 defendants be remanded at the Jos  Correctional facility on a six-count charge and all count charges respectively leveled against them by the police.

He ordered that the 8 of them be remanded till  12 of June 2022 at the center pending their accelerated trial at the Plateau High Court 3, Jos.

“You would recall that the 8 of them, including some that are at large, were arraigned and each defendant was read his own charge by the court clerk, Peter Adams on criminal conspiracy punishable under section 59 of the Plateau penal code about midnight 1 pm on the 11th March 2021 and April of November 2021 after committing the dastardly crime of attacking Jebbu Bassa LGA in Irigwe land and kidnapping of Gloria and killing of Bernard Akoh after collection of the ransom of 200 and 1.7 million Naira from the two families.

The charge read that they were armed with AK47 Raffles and invaded Gloria Nicodemus resident in Gyaro of Gyel community of Jos South LGA  of Plateau state.

They were handed over to the police before they were charged to a State High Court by the Federal Government (Nigeria Police Force).

He read, that culpable homicide is punishable under sections 158 A&B,58, and 189 of the Plateau state penal code with the killing in Irigwe on 11th April 2021.

According to the count, the mischief committed was in collaboration with their traditional rulers, and the Youth leader of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders who donated AK47 Raffles to be used for the invasion and raided, killed, burnt, houses, grabbed lands, and used witchcraft charms to invade Irigwe land.

However, the fourth count charge on Yau Idris and Abubakar Buba the community leaders continued to wreak havoc which is punishable under terrorism.
