The protesters which comprise of widows, aged and mid-aged women numbering over 500 have continued to express their disappointment and frustration over what they described as the miscarriage of justice following the declaration of Governor Abdullahi Sule as winner by  the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 18th.

The women in their multitude while speaking to newsmen on peaceful protest yesterday in Lafia the State capital, The protesting women appealed to the judiciary to handle election petition cases with the electorates in mind.

Nasarawa South of the People’s Democratic Party who spoke to Journalists expressed worries and said that the women in Nasarawa, including men are sad because they never expected that by now their candidate David Ombugadu is not announced as the winner of the 2023 Governorship election.

“I did not even know today is Christmas because I am worried about what INEC did on the 18th of March. Again the court of appeal further compounded it when in their judgement the tribunal judgement was nullified.

“Since the inception of Nasarawa state women have never embarked on a protest of this magnitude but this election outcome triggered this protest because it was obvious the result of the election was manipulated in favor of Engineer Abdullahi  Sule, She added.

“Anything that keeps older women and widows on the streets protesting for over nine months, despite all the risks is a serious issue that must not be overlooked. Older women are not looking for money or power ,but a legacy that brings peace to society.

“Democracy will be no more if the rich politicians use their monies and Influence to wiggle their way into offices and not through popular votes.

“In places where democracy is being practiced, they respect the majority choice of electorates. We all have consciences. Truth is the only medicine that heals a wounded conscience. We appeal to the judiciary to look deeply into the merit of the case of David Ombugadu and Governor Abdullahi Sule before it.

“When citizens have undoubted knowledge that their votes do not count, then anarchy is planted and will soon bring forth fruits in abundance

“To See the light and still call it dark is traumatizing and leaves us in excruciating pain. That is why we can’t sleep at home with our children and husbands. Our State is sick.

Mrs. Margaret Alu appealed to the Apex Court to be neutral against all influences and dig deep into what transpired at Gayam and Chiroma wards in Lafia where the total number of votes cast was more than the total number of registered voters in the two wards.

Margaret lamented that most people are sick because of the manipulation of the election results by INEC. “Huge jubilation took place in Nasarawa State when the tribunal declared David Ombugadu as the right winner of the March 18th governorship elections and the appeal court judgment threw the State into complete darkness.

“We are calling for justice that will bring lasting peace and harmony. Injustice breeds chaos and insurgency. We appeal for justice.
