Minister of Water Resource, Mrs. Sarah Reng Ochekpe has appealed to Plateau State Politicians to engage in politics that will advance the cause of development in Plateau rather than indulging in politics of sentiment that will divide the state ahead of the 2015 general elections.
Mrs. Ochekpe made the called yesterday in Jos during a courtesy call and interactive session with the newly elected official of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau State, led by Comrade Yakubu Taddy and urged the media to focus more on developmental Journalism.
She challenged the media to sensitize and encourage Plateau residents who have not collected or done their voter registration to do so, as that is the only chief tool that will enable them exercised their franchise during the poll.
She noted that governor Jonah David Jang has performed beyond the expectation of Plateau people and called for a rancour free election to ensure the present level of development in the state to continue beyond 2015.
According to her “I want to appeal to politicians in Plateau State to engage in to politics that will advance the cause of Plateau State and not to divide the state with politics of sentiment. Governor Jonah David Jang has done so much to bring development in the state and there is the need to sustain it.
“We should engage in to issues base campaign, we should tell the people what we can do for them and avoid the politics of sentiment and focus on the  politics of development in the best interest of the entire state” she stated.
The Minister who lamented over the high rate of snakebite in Langtang South Local Government Area of the state, pledge to take up the challenge with the Minister of Health to intervene in the area of providing  anti-snake vaccine at a subsidised rate for the people.

She said “we are worried over the problem of snake bite in Langtang, for the five days we were there for the free medical outreach, 33 cases were recorded and 6 cases were reported on daily bases. Also, the cause of treatment is very high, for a case you    need to spend N60, 000 to the N70, 000 and that is on the high side for people in the village. I am working o how we can partner with the Minister of health to get vaccine on a subsidized rate” she.
