Irked over the deterioration of the health of leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (shi’te) sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky, members of the movement has lament over his continued incarceration as the group maintained that the Islamic scholar has since lost his sight.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Sheikh Nurudeen Ahmed appealed to constituted authority in the country to ensure the release of their leader; Shi’te described the continued detention as illegal and gross violation of his fundamental human right.
Shi’ite called on those holding the leader to released him unconditionally to enable him attend to his health, Ahmed says their leader was never accused by Nigerian state of committing any crime against humanity non has been charged or arraigned before any competent court of the land.
“Is has become increasingly clear that the Nigerian authorities are too bothered about the survival or health of the leader of IMN, the authorities cynically told the Federal High court sitting in Abuja that the detention of El Zakzaky was with his prior consent to detained him in a protective custody but in contrary”.
The movement listed some of their demands to includes
- Appeal for the immediate release of the leader
- To also release other members been held captive who are languishing in Kaduna prison
- A qualified specialist to save his sight and among other demands, said Shiekh Nurudden Ahmed.
