May The Visit of British High Commissioner Open New Chapter For Nasarawa State-Emir of Lafia

The Emir of Lafia and Chairman Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Retired Justice Sidi Bage has prayed that the visit of the High Commissioner of Britain to Nigeria open a new chapter and vista in Nasarawa State.

The paramount ruler stated this during a special durbar organize in honor of British Ambassador, Catriona Laing visit to the”Home of solid minerals”.

Retired Justice Sidi Bage applauded Catriona for the choice of Nasarawa State, saying the durbar is a symbol of respect to the Kingdom of Britain.

The High Commissioner in her response expressed optimism over the display of rich tradition of Norther Nigeria.

In a related development, The Kingdom of Britain is to  partner with the Government of Nasarawa State.

The High Commissioner, Catriona Laing disclosed this when she paid a visit to the Governor at the seat of power.

She said British Government would partner Nasarawa State in the area of Agriculture,Mining and infrastructure.

Laing said transformation in agriculture was very important to UK, as according to her, Britain have expertise in that area to partner with Nasarawa State.

Other area for partnership is mining, She averred that Nasarawa has a very unique posture and comparative advantage especially with its nearest to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja

Governor Abdullahi Sule said the state has developed a Public Private Forum which has been a veritable tool to foster private sector investment in the state.

According to him, Nasarawa state secured projects in the area of education, transportation, health, mining and agriculture. We have established the Nasarawa State Infrastructural Fund where 5% of our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) would be dedicated mainly for infrastructural development.”
