Man Arrested For Killing His 45-Year-Old Fiancée

A 57-year-old man, Christopher Akpan, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 45-year-old fiancée with the help of a native doctor in December 2019.

The deceased, Josphine Cynthia Oche, an Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), was lured by the suspect to the house of the native doctor a few days before their wedding.

The suspect also promised to pay the native doctor five million naira to assist him in killing the deceased.

The prime suspect and the 57-year-old native doctor, Rafiu Afolabi, were paraded by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, on Wednesday.

The Police believe that the suspect killed his fiancée due to money-related issues.

Although the prime suspect was reluctant to state how he killed her, the native doctor gave a detailed explanation of what transpired that faithful day.

According to Afolabi, when Akpan brought his fiancée to his house, he told her that he wanted to take a bath, so she followed him to a forest. On getting there, Akpan shot his fiancée with Afolabi’s gun at the back of her head.

When they confirmed that the victim had died, they buried her in a shallow grave.

“Akpan told me to burn her body but I refused. He also promised to pay me N5m but only gave me N50,000 that day,” the native doctor said.

He also confirmed that Akpan took the ATM cards, purse, work ID card, wrapper, and N700,000, which the victim had in her bag.
