Local Govt Amendment Law: Court Restrains Nasarawa Assembly From repealing 2009 Law

The high Court sitting in Keffi,Nasarawa state has restrained the Nasarawa state House of Assembly over the amendment of 2009 Local Government law.

The court order followed an exparte motion filled by a jurist cum the state chairman of the Independent Democrate, Bar.Haruna Ilyas Favor, the amendment which was due to pass through third reading met it Waterloo.

Bar.Haruna on 20/05/2016 filed an application praying for an interim order restraining the House of Assembly from effecting an amendment to the existing 2009 Local Government law.

T.M Ozioko Esq counsel to the plaintiff while moving the application averred that the amendment of 2009 Local Government law as it was obtainable in the amendment effected in 2011 to make provision for leadership of Local Government in the absence of elected council officials.
