The Ecuadorian Embassy is pleased to announce the inauguration of the President-elect of Ecuador, which will take place at the Congress of Ecuador in Quito 24th May 2017. The Ecuadorian Ambassador to Nigeria, Leopoldo Rovayo Verdesoto made this known at the Embassy after his recent visit to Ecuador during the elections.
Lenín Moreno who was born 19 March 1953 won the Presidential election second round of voting, under the ruling party Alianza Pais, on 2 April 2017.
In 2007 he was elected, along with Mr Rafael Correa Delgado, vice-president of the Republic of Ecuador till 2013.
He was elected by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in December 2013 as his Special Envoy on Disability and Accessibility, a mandate that has now been renewed twice based in Geneva.
Mr. Moreno graduated from the Central University of Ecuador in Public Administration, was a secondary teacher and then dedicated to the promotion of tourism in Ecuador which lead to the creation of the Ecuadorian Chamber of Tourism.
The President-elect had also appointed Mrs. Maria Fernanda Espinosa as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, as she had been Minister in 2007 and the Ecuadorian Ambassador accredited to the United Nations Organizations in Geneva.
