Leaders Of Northern Community Visit Zone 2 Command, Pledge Cooperation With Police

The leaders of the Arewa Community in Lagos today 15th of March paid a courtesy visit on the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG C.K. Aderanti, mni. The delegation which was led by the Seriki Hausawa Agege, Alhaji Musa Mohammed had representatives of the Nupe, Ibira, Hausa and Ilorin indigenes.

The spokesperson of the delegation, Alhaji Kabir Dina intimated the AIG that their visit was necessitated by the Ile-Ife crisis and borne out of their need to seek peaceful co-existence with their host community; he stated further that they have done a lot of sensitization and warning to their indigenes to avoid reprisal attacks that can lead to break down of law and order.

The delegates promise to work assiduously with the police to ensure that the peace being enjoyed in Lagos is sustained as they reiterate their trust in the  Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni.

In his response, the AIG in charge of Zone 2, AIG C.K. Aderanti, mni assured the delegates that strategies have been put in place to forestall any reprisal attack. He said the Ile-Ife incident was an unfortunate one that will not be allowed to be replicated in the states under the zone. He informed the delegates that he summoned an emergency meeting of the DPOs after the Ile-Ife incident and directed them to up their activities and pay special attention to cases that have ethnic colouration. The AIG charged them to continually partner with security agents and live harmoniously with their host communities as he reiterates that the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni will do everything necessary to ensure that Nigeria remains peaceful for all and sundry.​
