The launch of a news website and presentation of awards by Independent Hajj Reporters, (IHR), earlier slated for April 28, 2018 has now been moved to May 10, 2018 due to unforeseen reasons.
A statement by the National Coordinator of IHR, Mohammed Ibrahim and Secretary of the organizing committee, Mohammed Garba on Thursday however, said the venue and time of the event remains Stonehedge Hotel Abuja by 10am.
IHR is a civil society organisation that reports and monitor hajj activities both in Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“ The event has to be postponed because most of the stakeholders are currently involved the the defense of 2018 hajj fare at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)”
“Officials from states pilgrims boards and agencies as well as those at NAHCON have been holding series of meetings in Abuja in respect of 2018 hajj fare and Lassa Fever outbreak in the country”
“ To this end, we found it necessary to allow everyone to concentrate on tasks that we feel are more important at the moment,” the statement said.
