Lalong’s Wife, Plateau Executive Secretary Primary Healthcare, Dr Miapkwap Flags Off Measles Vaccines Of One Million Children In Plateau

The Executive Secretary Primary Healthcare, Plateau state ,Dr Livinus Miapkwap has tasked family ,parents and caregiver to know that about one million measles vaccines is available for children from 9 months to 5 years in the nearest public and private hospitals available to them.

Speaking during the National measles vaccination campaign by Mrs Regina Lalong the wife of the executive governor of Plateau state held at SDA primary school Laranto Jos North LGA, Plateau state, he said measles is a very dangerous disease which can spread from one infected person to another mostly children who are under the ages of 0 to 5 years and it can lead to death.

According to him, it reduces their ability to fight other diseases, resulting in frequent illness and also increase the risk of contracting measles from children did not complete their routine immunization and those that did not vaccinate against measles.

The symptoms of measles are high fever, runny nose cough, red and watery eyes, loss of appetite and rashes all over the face and body but when the child shows the signs of measles, they should take him or her to the nearest health facility immediately ,Dr Livinus Miapkwap advised parents.

He commended Governor Simon Lalong for his prompt release of funds to embark on prevention of tuberculosis including cough and permanent brain damage.

As the dry season set ,government receive commendation for ensuring that triple shots ,protection prevent pneumonia ,diphtheria ,whooping, hepatitis B, ,liver disease ,cancer and death ,he explained .

Meanwhile, Governor Simon Lalong’s Wife, Mrs Regina expressed her readiness to partner with the necessary body to fight the scourge of child killer’s diseases in rural and urban communities in Plateau state.

She said, the prevention of measles which causes blindness, deafness, lowers immunity and death would receive total boost under her office to improve children vision.

Mrs Regina Lalong explained that immunization is safe , effective and free; as she said “now is the time to take action to deliver these lifesaving solution to all our children and give the children a chance for a better life .

His Royal Highness, Emir of Kanam Local Government Area Mohammed Babagida  said as traditional rulers and custodian of the people;  :we are offering our total support to the fight against child killers disease .

Babagida urged parents to bring out their children to the nearest public health facilities to be given vaccines to ensure they prevent outbreak of diseases.
