Local Government Workers In Nasarawa State To Get Full Salary For January

The Nasarawa State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs says staffs of the 13 Local Government Areas and 18 Development Areas are to receive 100 percent salary for January.

The Commissioner, Honorable Haruna Osegba disclosed this on during the Joint Account Committee of Local Government held at the ministry in Lafia.

He attributed the 100 payment to Local Government staff to the improvement in the monthly allocation, which said raises from N1.1bn to N1.3bn Accordingly.

“There is a little improvement in the monthly allocation of the LGAs in the state from N1.1 billion in December to N1. 3 billion in January”.

The Commissioner maintained that over N40m was augment to the N1.3bn to pay 100 percent salary to Workers.

“Though the N1.3billion was not enough to pay 100 percent salaries of the Local Government workers”.

“The meeting have decided that the ministry should augment the money with over N40 million”.

Assuring all workers that the state government is putting measures on ground in order to ensure sustainability of the 100 percent payment.

Haruna Osegba said that the state government is more determine now more than before to better the working condition of workers in the state.

He disclosed that the ministry in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) would organize a sensitization workshop to Chairmen, Overseers and other management staff of the LGAs.

He explained that the workshop which would last for two days, would focus on proper ways of administration at the Local Government levels and would cost them over N12 million.

He said the payment of January salary would commence from Friday February 2, calling on all well-meaning Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
