While opening the workshop the commissioner lamented that the councils are seriously facing a shortage of financial support and poor security.
He explained further that lack of adequate funding and insecurity is the major problem that is affecting the progress of councils in the state as well as the issue of Cholera outbreaks which has recently killed a lot of people in the state.
On the issue of local government autonomy, he said if sections 7 and 8 are not properly addressed the local government councils in Nigeria will never enjoy that privilege.
He, therefore, called on the chairmen of the 27 local government areas in the state to unite themselves with all executive as well as their councilors to move their councils forward because all they were elected was to work for the people and also to protect the party interest, therefore it is a high time they establish a good relationship with people in their locality for the party to remain in power in the next coming general election.
