We, the leadership of Kanam Development Association KADA), are deeply disturbed by the recent surge in insecurity and senseless killings in Garga area of Kanam LGA, Plateau State.
The Chairman, Kanam Development Association (KADA),Barr. Garba A. Gambo and ND Shehu Kanam *Secretary, Kanam Development Association (KADA) in a statement made available to this medium in Jos said, that the brazen attacks on innocent lives are a stark reminder of the failure of the security apparatus to protect citizens.
The “MADAM GAME RESERVED” bordering Plateau, Bauchi and Taraba states is an ungoverned space where the bandits operate at will and unchallenged.
*We are equally dismayed by the apparent lack of urgency and action from our political class, who seem more preoccupied with planning for the 2027 general election than addressing the pressing security concerns of our people.
They are busy discussing alignment, realignment, rethink and permutation at the utter neglect of the security and welbeing of our people.
This neglect and lack of leadership are unacceptable. Already over ten communities in Garga area of Kanam LGA are no go area because of the banditry.
Who will vote for you when the whole area is being taken over by the bandits?*
We demand the government across all levels to take immediate and concrete steps by deploying adequate security personnel to the affected areas.
We need a comprehensive Investigation to unravel the root causes of the problem and bring perpetrators and acommplice to justice.
We urge citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. We stand in solidarity with the victims’ families and call for collective action to restore peace, sec order in the affected areas.
We expect swift action from authorities. Failure to act will lead to further escalation. The people of Kanam LGA deserve better than to be abandoned to insecurity and neglect.
