Jos Electricity Distribution Company Disconnects Governor Lalong Official Residence Over Noncompliance To Payment Of Bills

The Jos Electricity Distribution Company of Nigeria has disconnected Governor Simon Bako Lalong private resident in Federal Low-cost Housing including Old Legislators and Tudun wada community of Jos North local Government Area over noncompliance to new meters billing system.

Its was gathered that residents of the Federal Low cost/Old Legislators Quarters and New Layout Residents Association in Jos have stormed one the JEDCO substation in the early hour of Monday demanding the restoration of light in their houses .

It was resolved at the meeting that status quo should be maintained pending further consultations with the company which was truncated by the company failure ,he added.

He raised concern that ,”your company made good their threats by disconnecting us on the, 9th,10th,11th and 12th March, 2017 without notice as require by law .

However, Bar.Tokz said, “we further gave him the phone number of Dr Elijah, (   JEDCO PRO)but that could not yield any positive result.

The Chairman of the Area, Bar. Sam Tokz has decried that effort to dialogue with Jos Electricity Company of Nigeria ended in deadlock as the company is not willing to understand their plight but forcefully embark on massive disconnection.

Tokz stated this at Tudun Wada out station of JEDCO in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday.

According to him, “after the emergency Congress meeting that ended up in deadlock on the 12th March, 2017 and resolution were not taken, so we are calling on JEDCO to restore us all the illegal disconnection”.

“We view your action as an embarrassment to our amiable Governor Lalong being hit community in that respect an unreserved apology must be rendered to him by your company”, he explained.

He explained that several effects were made to know the reason for the disconnection to no avail ,well-meaning citizens and elders within the community made their concern but was turn down.

Head of corporate communication, Dr Friday Adakole Elijah debunked that the allegations by the protesters are not true, that the newly installed meters were well tested by their company team of engineers.

He said, the company had not reach an agreement with the claim protesters which he described their complaint as baseless because items were comprehensively regulated and satisfy for use before importing it.
