sultan sokoto_7_510x350Taking into consideration that tomorrow (Thursday, 15th October, 2015), will mark the commencement of Muharram 1437A.H., In-shaa-Allah, hence today is 30th of Dhul-Hijjah, 1436 A.H., Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), National Headquarters felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and the world, on the inception of the new Hijrah Calendar 1437 A.H. As always we particularly wish the President-General, JNI, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni and all his lieutenants across the nation a prosperous Hijrah year.

The JNI uses this unique opportunity to as usual, remind Nigerian Muslims to remain God-fearing, steadfast and be law-abiding at all times. Nigerian Muslims are also reminded not to end up the New Year in celebrations repugnant to Islamic tenets. They are urged also to observe the voluntary fastings of Tasu’a and ‘Ashoora which the Prophet (SAW) strongly urges us to.

Therefore, as the dates fall on Friday, 23rd and Saturday, 24th October, 2015, the Ummah is thus, called upon to fast these days and to as usual pray fervently for development of our country, peace and security, particularly that a new democratically elected government has been successfully ushered. May Allah, the Most High make the New Year a source of abundant blessings and prosperity to us all in particular and the entire Muslim Ummah the world over, Amin.

Consequently, the Nigerian Muslim Ummah is urged to continuously seek for Allah’s forgiveness, guidance and protection. Important qualities such as fear of Allah (SWT), peacefulness and steadfastness should be introspectively adhered to.

Moreover, it should be noted that as we felicitate with ourselves, we should bear in mind that the Hijrah year is a call to servitude to Allah, piety, commitment and positive change of oneself and sacrifice. It is also a duty to fellow human beings.

We implore Allah the Oft-Forgiving and The Most Merciful to provide merciful intervention to the Muslim refugees throughout the world, restore peace and security to the whole world and Nigeria in particular.

Wassalamu Alaikum.

Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu

Secretary-General, JNI
