Jigawa State And LG Contributory Pension Settles N5.5 Billion Terminal Benefits For 2018

The Jigawa state and local government contributory pension scheme board has paid the sum of N5.546,638,643.59 billion as the terminal benefit, pension, death, and refund of 8% to 1,294 retirees. Executive Secretary of the board, Hashim Ahmad Fagam disclosed.

Speaking to Newsmen in his office while presenting the board`s annual report, Hashim Fagam said the category of workers benefited from the payment comprising staff of the state, local governments and local educational authorities who completed the mandatory 35 years in service or attained 60 years and those who died during active service of the state in the year 2018.

Hashim explained that  out of this amount , the  sum of N1,74,779,633,28 billion was paid to 329 staff of the state government as pension while N390,582,751.02 million was for the retired staff of the 27 local governments and the sum of N627,758,125.66million was settled to 328 staff of the 27 local education authorities of the state.

His words:- “The monthly pension was for the year 2018 while the terminal benefit  was from January to November,2018 and the amount includes death benefit as well as refund of eight percent contribution paid to the beneficiaries”..

The Executive Secretary stated further that no any ghost name was uncovered during the year under review, noted that it was a result of measures taken by board to curtail activities of commission agents and touts and staff of the board were up and doing while performing their responsibility.

He remarked that his board has cordial relationship with the association of pensioners and that they had two members In the pension trustee, stressed that all decisions taken by the scheme he is enjoying the  cooperation and support of his workers.

Hashim Fagam applauded the  effort of the state governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for the prompt release of funds for the settlement of pension and terminal benefits which without the success recorded by the commission could had not been possible without the effort of the Governor.
