Jangwa Rice Harvest: Sule Targets 1.2m Bags Of Rice, Harvest 600,000 Bags Of Rice As Of Thursday

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullah Sule, has announced that the State is targeting a total of 1.2 million bags of rice from the ongoing harvest of the 3,300-hectare Jangwa Rice Farm in Awe Local Government Area.
The Governor disclosed on Thursday, November 27, 2025, during an inspection visit to the farm, where large-scale harvesting is currently underway.
Governor Sule revealed that about 600,000 bags of rice had already been harvested within the last two weeks, representing roughly 50 percent of the total expected output.
“We are delighted with the harvest we are seeing so far. We started harvesting a little over two weeks ago, and we still have about two more weeks to finish,” he said. “So far, we have close to 600,000 bags already harvested, which is about 50 percent of what we expect. The section of the farm we are currently on represents roughly half of the entire area.”
The Governor further explained that the harvested paddy would be transported to milling centres in Abuja and Lokoja, Kogi State, after which the state-branded NASACO rice would be officially launched in Abuja.
Governor Sule added that once the current harvest is completed, the State Government will begin clearing additional hectares to meet its production targets and expand the capacity of the farm.
It will be recalled that the Governor recently flagged off the harvest of the 3,300-hectare rice farm in Jangwa, Awe Local Government Council.
