Jang Was Arrested Because He Siphoned And Embezzled Plateau State Money, I Am Not Witch-Hunting Him-Lalong

Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has cried out that he wasn’t witch-hunting the former Plateau Governor, his predecessor, David Jonah Jang.

The Governor gave the hint last weekend at the Congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which was held in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

Universalreportersng.com learnt that there have been allegations and insinuations from different quarters in the State on how the current Governor Lalong and President Muhammadu Buhari are witch-hunting, the former Governor because of his desire to contest for the 2019 Presidential election in 2019.

But debunking the said speculations, Lalong said Jang’s arrest was not about witch-hunting but was done to recover all the monies belonging to the State that was siphoned and embezzled by Jang and others during his tenure as the State Governor.

Speaking he said; “I took my time before reacting to the comments about what has been happening in the state, I said look some people would say we have been vindictive and the president is vindictive, he just says somebody must go an answer for his crime, is it a crime for Mr. President to say go an answer for your crime? No, it is the same thing in Plateau.”

“A widow come to me yesterday and she was crying; she said I have taken somebody to prison, and I said Madam is not me, he ate our money and he took the money that was supposed to train you to get some skills, what they were doing now was how the money would be back to me before I give you your money,” Lalong said.

It would be recalled that Jang was arraigned by Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on a 12 count charges that bothers on alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion before the Jos High Court.
